
CIC - Certificate in Coaching
Overview
Our transformative Certificate in Coaching is designed specifically for teachers who aspire to become coaches or utilise the power of coaching in their training. This course equips you with essential coaching techniques to foster growth, confidence and resilience in your students, colleagues and yourself.
Course Type
This is a self-directed distance learning course that you complete at your own pace. You have one year from the start of the course in which to complete all units and the final assignment. You can start the course at any time.
Learning Hours
The course will take approximately 18 hours to complete including study, practice coaching sessions and write-ups.
Course Structure
The course is composed of pre-course tasks, self-study notes, coaching practices and assessed coursework.
Course Objectives
1. To develop the essential knowledge, skills and mindset needed for effective coaching.
2. To be able to apply best practices for effective coaching and transition from trainer to coach.
3. To be able to utilise coaching as a leadership style.
4. To develop the communicative competences required of a coach.

Who Should Study this Course?
This course will be of interest to any teacher or trainer who is curious about coaching or who wishes to use coaching as a methodology in training or move into being a provider of coaching.
Course Content
The course has the following content:
● What coaching is and the rationale for developing coaching competences as an EFL professional or Business English trainer
● Comparing and contrasting coaching and mentoring
● The competences of a coach and what a coach will and will no do
● Managing coachees and getting to know a coachee
● Using models for coaching including GROW, TGROW, REGROW and OSKAR
● Coaching contracts and coaching logs
● Coaching questions and question errors
● The scope of coaching
● Coaching as a leadership style
● Coaching cultures and coaching supervision
● Evaluating coaching outcomes

You are also entitled to a live virtual tutorial with a course learning mentor.
Assessment
The course is assessed by delivery of 6 hours of practice coaching that must be written up in a coaching log. You will receive feedback on your coaching logs from two experienced coaches / coach trainers.
