Overview
Our Certificate in Training Intercultural and interpersonal Skills course provides teachers and trainers with the wide-ranging knowledge, models, concepts and ideas they need to become effective developers of the skills needed to work effectively in diverse intercultural and interpersonal environments.
Course Type
This is a self-directed distance learning course that you complete at your own pace. You have one year from the start of the course in which to complete all units and the final assignment. You can start the course at any time.
Learning Hours
The course will take around 18 hours including study, end-of-unit tasks and assignment completion.
Course Structure
The course is composed of 6 units, each with an end-of-unit task to complete; you will receive written feedback from a learning mentor for each end-of-unit task. The units are:

2. To know the key models, thinkers and theories of culture that affect intercultural communication.
3. To understand a range of key intercultural variables for both individuals and organisations.
4. To develop a range of ideas for training intercultural communication.
5. To know what constitutes interpersonal skills and how they can be trained.
6. To be able to assess the outcomes of intercultural and interpersonal communication skills training.
7. To be able to write impactful proposals for intercultural and interpersonal skills courses.

The course will be of interest to any teacher or trainer who:

The course has the following content:
● Understanding culture and key models of culture
● The concept of cultural intelligence
● What constitutes effective intercultural communication
● Key cultural variables including directness and indirectness, handling of time and more
● Examination of a range of critical incidents in intercultural communication
● How intercultural and interpersonal skills training links to Business English training and the rationale for training both intercultural and interpersonal skills
● The work of key intercultural communication "gurus"
● Key intercultural communication tools including DIE analysis
● Using case studies in intercultural communication training
● Training influencing, conflict handling, feedback and feed forward provision, listening on multiple levels, trust building and managing up
● Assessing intercultural and interpersonal skills
● Writing proposals for intercultural and interpersonal skills training courses

Assessment
The course is assessed by a 3000 to 4000 word assignment focusing on one of four options each involving an aspect of interviewing skills training.
You will receive full written feedback on your assignment from two experienced trainers.
