If you are a teacher or trainer looking to help others master the art of interviewing, this course gives you everything you need to deliver high‑impact, confidence‑building training. The Certificate in Training Interviewing Skills equips you with practical frameworks, ready‑to‑use activities and the pedagogical tools to teach interviewing skills across sectors from HR and management to sales, coaching, customer service and investigative roles. You will learn how to break down complex interviewing techniques into clear, teachable steps, guide learners through realistic practice, and help them build the judgement, structure and confidence needed to run fair, effective and professional interviews. Whether you are supporting new interviewers or developing experienced professionals, this course empowers you to train others with clarity, credibility and impact.
Course Type
This is a self-directed distance learning course that you complete at your own pace. You have one year from the start of the course in which to complete all units and the final assignment. You can start the course at any time.
Learning Hours
The course will take around 18 hours including study, end-of-unit tasks and assignment completion.

Course Objectives
1. To know the core principles, terminology and processes involved in interviewing and to understand what interviews are, why they are used, the different types of interviews and the essential skills required to conduct them effectively.
2. To be able to develop the abilities of others to design, structure and deliver effective interviews including how to plan interviews, create appropriate questions, manage time and flow and apply structured frameworks such as WASP and STAR.
3. To build the confidence of interviewers in evaluating candidates fairly and consistently through assessing responses, avoiding bias and use scoring rubrics to support evidence‑based hiring decisions.
4. To enhance facilitation and training skills for teaching interviewing techniques and develop the capability to teach interviewing skills to others, including how to run controlled discussions and design practice tasks.
5. To understand legal, ethical and cultural considerations in interviewing and explore what questions are appropriate or inappropriate, how to ensure fairness and compliance and how interviewing practices vary across contexts.

Assessment
The course is assessed by a 3000 to 4000 word assignment focusing on one of four options each involving an aspect of interviewing skills training.
You will receive full written feedback on your assignment from two experienced trainers.
